For buying tickets to a broadway show, these are the order in which you should go about aquiring tickets.
1) Student Rush/Lottery – I don’t know if how long you’ll be there, but if you’re willing to take a chance, the best way to get tickets is throught this. You’ll get 1st or 2nd row seats for around $35. You get them by getting to box office when it opens and having a student ID (for ACL). If the show is sold out, you can also get standing room seats for $26.50.
2) If you don’t do the student rush/lottery, the next best way to acquire tickets is directly throught the box office. This way you can usually pick your seats, and it will be cheaper than other ways because you won’t have to pay various fees. You can also usually bargain them down, or automatically get them for a better price.
3) If that doesn’t work, then go to TKTS, located at the Marriot Marquis Theatre. They sell day of tickets for discount prices (like anything from 10%-75% off). TKTS is decent, but they aren’t always the best seats, and you also have to get in line very early. It is also good to check the website (www.tdf.org) and make sure they ahve ACL tickets. -Usually they do.
4) The final way to get tickets is through Ticketmaster/hotel services/etc. This is a decent way to get tickets, but you won’t get the best seats in the house. Also, you will have to pays fees through ticketmaster, and usually through hotel services as well.
