I would recommend losing as much weight as possible by swimming, running, and aerobics. If you get to boot camp overweight, your life will be far worse than it is for your thinner peers. Overweight recruits are put into what is called the Physical Conditioning Platoon (“Pork Chop Platoon”). The drill instructors run the crap out of them and feed them only half rations. Keep in mind that however long you stay in Physical Conditioning Platoon is that much longer you have to stay at boot camp in addition to the normal 13 weeks. If you don’t lose the weight yourself, the United States Marine Corps with see that it happens. It won’t be pleasant.
