Bats are made from hardwoods, generally ash, but sometimes birch, hickory, or maple. The wood is put in a giant oven called a kiln and heated for a number of hours until the moisture is around 6%. The peices of wood are cut to size and put on a duplicating lathe. These lathes use a template to cut the same demensions every time. The bat is then finished and heat stamped or laser engraved with the label.

Im not sure. But if you watch te show "How Its Made" on the discovery channel. By the end of the show it will tell you where to go to send in an idea for the show.
